4.7. Subcutaneous Xenograft Model

Male and female NOD.CB17-Prkdcscid/jNarl mice (5 weeks old) were purchased from Taiwan National Laboratory Animal Center. The protocol was reviewed and approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee of Taipei Medical University (LAC-2017-0347) in January 2018. Huh7 cells (1 × 10⁶) were subcutaneously inoculated into the right backs of male mice. Mice were randomly grouped into two groups (n = 5/group) after Huh7 cell injection, which were treated with or without 2 mg/kg BA-5 by intraperitoneal injection 5 times a week. Tumors were measured twice weekly by using a Vernier caliper to measure the length (L) and width (W) of the tumors. The tumor volume (TV) was calculated as follows: TV = (L × W²)/2. Body weight was recorded twice weekly.
