Determination of in-vitro COX activity

COX activity was evaluated using a COX (ovine) Inhibitor Screening assay kit that included both ovine COX-1 and human recombinant COX-2 enzymes. The assay was used to screen isozyme-specific inhibitors by direct measurement of PGF2α which is produced by the reduction of COX-derived PGH2 by SnCl2. Finally, the yield was evaluated using enzyme immunoassay for quantification, as described previously (30,31).
