Apoptosis was measured by flow cytometry after staining with Alexa Flour 488 Annexin V and Propidium Iodide (PI) using Alexa Fluor 488 Annexin V/Dead Cell Apoptosis Kit (Thermo Fisher Scientific). The staining was performed according to the manufacturer’s instructions. For each sample, at least 1×104 cells were analyzed by flow cytometry (BD, USA). Flow Jo (Tree Star Inc., Ashland, OR, USA) software was used for quantitative analysis.
