Pancreatitis was induced in mice by intraperitoneal injection of 50 μg/kg of the secretagogue caerulein (Sigma C9026) in PBS buffer. Caerulein was administered as 8 daytime doses, 1 hour apart over 2 consecutive days [33,34]. Control mice received equal volumes of PBS buffer injected intraperitoneally following the same pattern.
