The primary comparison was determining the difference between SR and SR + EX, which was performed using a two‐tailed paired t‐tests with significance accepted at P ≤ 0.05. To determine differences from COM as a secondary comparison, unpaired t‐tests were used and adjusted for multiple comparisons (i.e. significance accepted at P ≤ 0.025). A Pearson's product correlation was applied to assess the relationship between SC, muscle protein synthesis, and fibre capillarization with significance accepted at P < 0.05. Statistics were performed using GraphPad Prism V6.02 software (GraphPad Software Inc., La Jolla, CA, USA). Data presented as means ± SD.
