The gene expression profiles of cardiac hypertrophy and AMI were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/geo). Two studies in which the samples provided both miRNA and gene expression profiles were extracted. The cardiac hypertrophy expression data included three diseases samples and three control samples (accession no. GSE60291) (23). The AMI expression data included four disease samples and one control sample (accession no. GSE24591; unpublished data).
