To evaluate the effects of cultivar, fertilizer level, and development stage on IWUE, PNUE, and δ13C values, as well as some other traits, three or two-way ANOVAs (for some traits without the effect of the stage) were conducted, and post-hoc Fisher-LSD tests were used to determine the significance level of the difference between different treatments. Homogeneity of variance was checked at the first step to ensure the validity of ANOVA tests. All the statistical analyses were run by JMP10.0 software packages.
