2.7. Measurement of superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme activity

Frozen heart tissues were homogenized in ice-cold lysis buffer (0.1 mM EDTA, 0.5% Triton X-100 and 50 mM potassium phosphate) and centrifuged at 12,000g for 5 min at 4 °C. Then, SOD enzyme activity was measured using EnzyChromTM Superoxide Dismutase Assay Kit (BioAssay Systems, USA) as per the manufacturer’s protocol.
