To validate the annotations assigned by Blast2GO, F. sultana transcripts were blasted against the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) database (Kanehisa et al., 2017) using the KEGG Automatic Annotation Server (KAAS; https://www.genome.jp/tools/kaas/) (Moriya et al., 2007). KEGG orthology (KO) assignment was done using the single-directional best hit (SBH) method for partial genomic data using a threshold greater than 60, against the datasets of 28 related species, which were selected as reference organisms (Table S1).
