C8-Ceramide (d-erythro-Sphingosine, N-Octanoyl) was purchased from Calbiochem-Behring Corp. (#219540, La Jolla, CA, USA). C8-ceramide was dissolved in DMSO (as stock solutions at 5 mM), and the aliquots were stored at −20°C before assays.
