The following risk factors were selected a priori based on their previously strong associations with outcomes in patients with MI and because of their use as enrichment criteria in clinical trials3: age ≥65, MVD (defined as two or more vessels or left main with a stenosis ≥50% at coronary angiography), CKD (defined as an estimated glomerular filtration rate below 60 mL/min/1.73 m2 calculated by the CKD-Epidemiology Collaboration formula), diabetes mellitus, prior MI (previous International Classification of Diseases 10th Revision [ICD-10] diagnosis I21–I23) and prior major bleeding (using the same ICD-10 codes as below).
