The ability to move against gravity and climb indicated the level of physical fitness of test animals. Vertical climbing ability of male flies that emerged from different treatment bottles was assessed. Twenty male flies per treatment group were collected and transferred to the empty, 0–15 cm graduated vial. The vial was gently tapped and placed in a vertical position. The number of flies that crossed the 15 cm mark in 30 s was counted. Three trials were conducted on each set of 20 flies. The data was expressed as percentage of flies that crossed the 15 cm mark.
