We purchased primary rat cardiac microvascular endothelial cells (CMECs), cardiac fibroblasts (CFs), cardiomyocytes (CMs) from the cell bank of the Chinese Academy of Science. Cells were cultured in Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium (DMEM; Lonza) with 10% foetal bovine serum (FBS; Gibco), 100 U/mL penicillin (Gibco) and 100 mg/mL streptomycin (Gibco). All cells were maintained at 37°C in 5% CO2 incubator.
