Histological staining for collagen fibers was perform on tissues harvested with Sirius Red/Fast Green Collagen Staining solutions (Sigma-Aldrich, St. Louis, MO) according to manufacturer’s protocol. Tissue preparation, fixation, and data analysis were conducted as previously described25.
