KKU-213 cells (1x105) were subcutaneously injected into the flanks of male Balb/c RJ mice [10, 11]. The dosing schedule of flavopiridol used in this study is based on previous preclinical study [12]. Five to six mice per group were administered an intraperitoneal injection of 100 μl PBS or flavopiridol (5 and 7.5 mg/kg body weight) 3 days after tumor transplantation and then 5 days a week for 2 weeks. Tumor growth was monitored every day using a vernier caliper. The mice were sacrificed on day 17 by cervical dislocation and the tumors were removed and weighed. Body weights were recorded twice a week in order to observe the condition of the mice. The procedures and protocols of animal study were approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee of Kumamoto University.
