Mice were immunised with a H. pylori WC antigen prepared from a clinical isolate selected from the H. pylori strain collection (University of Gothenburg, Sweden), designated Hel 305. The H. pylori Hel 305 strain was grown on plates and subsequently inactivated with formalin as previously described.44 The H. pylori mouse-adapted strain SS145 was used for all infections. Both Hel 305 and H. pylori SS1 are CagA+ and VacA+.46 The lysates and whole-membrane proteins from Hel 305 were prepared as previously detailed in Ghiara et al.47 and in Lindholm et al.,48 respectively.
