BV2 microglia is a murine immortalized microglia cell line that had been proven as a valid substitute for primary microglia (Henn et al., 2009). BV2 microglia cells were purchased from the Cell Resource Center of IBMS, CAMS/PUMC (3111C0001CCC000063, Beijing, China, RRID: CVCL_0182) and cultured in Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium (DMEM) with high glucose, supplemented with 10% heat-inactivated fetal bovine serum, 100 U mL–1 penicillin, and 100 μg mL–1 streptomycin (Invitrogen, Carlsbad, CA, United States) in a humidified incubator at 37°C in a mixture of 95% air and 5% CO2. BV2 cells were utilized for experiments at 70–80% confluence.
