Plasma metabolomic profile was determined by 2 platforms (version 3 and 4 as described in Fig. Fig.1),1), using Liquid Chromatography/ Mass Spectometry (LC/MS, LC/MS2) and Gas Chromatography/ Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS). Both analyses were completed at Metabolon, Inc. (Durham, NC) (details on the supplemental material (SM) files). Metabolites identified in 80% of both platforms were included in the final analysis, resulting in the inclusion of 266 metabolites.
