Fluorescence emission values were used to monitor the protein amount. The fluorescence emission values were obtained by a Fluoroskan Ascent microplate fluorometer with an excitation wavelength of 485 nm and an emission wavelength of 538 nm. The protein amount was calculated using the protocol established in [12]. For the experiments comparing mutants’ activity, fluorescence emission values were always measured to ensure equal protein amounts.
