Detached leaves from different Arabidopsis lines were treated with 200 mM NaCl or 300 mM mannitol for 0, 6, and 12 h, and then used for histochemical staining analysis. The leaves were infiltrated with DAB or NBT, which allowed the detection of H2O2 and O2-, respectively, according to the method (Fryer et al., 2002). Evans Blue staining was performed to investigate the cell death, as described (Zhang L. et al., 2011). H2O2 was measured following the protocol of Thordal-Christensen et al. (1997).
