Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis

Total RNA (5 μg) was extracted from 2-week old plants using RNeasy Plant Mini Kit (Qiagen). It was used for cDNA synthesis using oligo dT and Superscript Reverse Transcriptase first-strand synthesis system (Invitrogen). Quantitative RT-PCR was carried out with gene-specific primers (S1 Table). Gene expression was normalized against the expression of OsActin2 (LOC_Os10g36650). Relative gene expression was analyzed using the ΔΔCt method [32].
