Quantification of the lysophospholipids was performed as previously described24,44. Briefly, ten μL AH sample per patient was used for identification and quantification of lysophospholipids. AH samples were mixed with a 10-fold volume of methanol and an internal standard and then sonicated. After centrifugation at 21,500 × g, the resulting supernatant was recovered and used for LC-MS analyses. Twelve acyl chains (14:0, 16:0, 16:1, 18:0, 18:1, 18:2, 18:3, 20:3, 20:4, 20:5, 22:5, and 22:6) were monitored and the total LPA was calculated.
