Cultured cells were treated with 50 ng/ml IL-8 plus DMSO, AS-IV (5, 10 or 20 mg/l) or 10 µM GSK690693 (Selleck, Houston, TX, USA) for 48 h and then collected for annexin V-fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC)/propidium iodide (PI) staining with an apoptosis detection kit (BD Biosciences, San Jose, CA, USA). The stained cells were detected using a flow cytometer (BD Biosciences).
