To measure the chemokine levels in infected supernatants, a human extracellular protein buffer reagent kit (Life Technologies) combined with MIG (CXCL9) and IP-10 (CXCL10) human singleplex bead kits was used according to manufacturer's instructions in a Bio-Plex 200 instrument (Bio-Rad). Beads for CXCL11 were not available.
