Confocal micrographs (60×) were taken at a resolution of 3.7 pixels/μm. Images were analyzed with ImageJ software. Puncta with a minimum size of four pixels and an intensity of at least 20% of average brightness were identified and quantified. Three random sampling sites (212 μm2) from three sections of each animal were analyzed, and three animals per genotype were included.
