The drug mitochondrial division inhibitor, Mdivi‐1 (CAS # 338967‐87‐6), was purchased from Sigma, and was given as reported before (Givvimani et al. 2012). Briefly, the drug was administered through intraperitoneal route at a dose of 50 mg per kg body weight for a total of 5 days (2 days before the surgery, on the day of surgery, and 2 days after the surgery). The control group received an equivalent DMSO on the same days as with the treatment group.
