One milligram per milliliter daunomycin was added to 1 mg/mL E51 solution (E51-dauno) in ddH2O prior to PEC formation. ZnCl2 was prepared as described above and used to dissolve K55 (K55-Zn). The E51-dauno solution was then added dropwise to a stirred solution of K55-Zn in tricine at a 1:1 molar charge ratio. The resulting PECs were stirred for an additional 10 min, diluted into 10 mg/mL Tricine, and then analyzed by DLS.
