The identification of isolates from study patients was determined locally by broth microdilution using a Vitek2 system (bioMérieux UK Ltd., Basingstoke, UK) per routine care. The teicoplanin MICs of Gram-positive isolates from cultures of blood taken from the study patients were determined locally with MIC test strips (Liofilchem, Italy).
