Itk−/− (ref. 34) and WT mice were backcrossed 12 generations onto the C57BL/6 background. CD45.1 congenic C57BL/6 mice were purchased from Taconic. All mice used were between 7 and 10 weeks old. For in vitro experiments, either male or female mice were used. For papain and IL-33 sensitization, only female mice were used. Animal husbandry and experiments were performed in accordance with approved protocols by the National Human Genome Research Institute's Animal Use and Care Committee, NIH.
