To study the association between the caprine IGF1 gene and body conformation traits, 6 mL of venous blood was collected from jugular vein from adult female goats (2–5 years of age) belonging to Malabari (n = 175) and Attappady Black breeds (n = 102) maintained at University Goat and Sheep Farm, Mannuthy, Thrissur, Kottakkal Aryavaidyasala, Malappuram and Department of Animal Husbandry Goat Farm, Attappady, Palakkad, Kerala. The genomic DNA was extracted by the standard phenol chloroform method and stored at −20 °C until use.
