HUVEC proliferation, migration, sprouting and tube formation assays were performed as previously described [18, 21]. FGF2 and VEGF165 (Lonza) were used at 5–20 ng/ml and 2.5–20 ng/ml concentration, respectively. The treatment with synthetic dodecasaccharides in vitro was performed at 1, 10 and 50 μg/ml concentrations.
