To deplete monocytes and macrophages 24 hours before induction of VILI, mice were given a combined dose of 100 μl of clodronate liposomes intratracheally plus 200 μl intravenously (ClodronateLiposomes.com). Control mice received equal amounts of control liposomes without dodronate at the same time points.
