Apoptosis detection by acridine orange was performed as previously described (Verduzco and Amatruda, 2011). 6 dpf embryos were incubated in 2 μg/mL solution of acridine Orange (Sigma, A6014) in E3 for 30 min at room temperature. Embryos were subsequently washed extensively in E3, tricaine treated and mounted prior to confocal imaging.
