Blue/orange loading dye 6X (Promega, G1881) was added to PCR fragments, which were subsequently separated using 1% agarose gels prepared with molecular grade agarose (Bioline, BIO-41025), Tris base–acetic acid–EDTA (TAE) 1× solution and SYBR Safe DNA Gel Stain (Life Technologies, S33102). Agarose gels were imaged on the GelDoc XR + Imager (BioRad) using ImageLab Software (BioRad). All experiments were performed in three biological repeats.
