The primary outcome was to determine the incidence of early-onset PE, defined as PE diagnosed before 34 weeks of gestation. The secondary outcome was to establish the incidence of total PE, defined as PE diagnosed at any gestational age. Preeclampsia was defined according to the International Society for the Study of Hypertension in Pregnancy.8 The compliance to aspirin was assessed by women's report of daily aspirin intake, during the follow-up prenatal visits.
