For the evaluation of the functional outcome, pure tone audiometry (air and bone conduction thresholds at frequencies of 250 Hz, 500 Hz, 1000 Hz, 3000 Hz and 4000 Hz) were reviewed pre- (just before admission) and post-operatively (1 year after surgery). The average Air Bone Gap (ABG) was determined pre- and post-operatively for the calculation of Air Conductance Gain (ACG) for each case.
