In a freshly prepared mitochondrial extract, CS activity was measured using 5,5′‐dithiobis (2‐nitrobenzoic acid) using a spectrophotometer (absorbance at 412 nm) overtime at 30 °C in the presence of acetyl co‐enzyme A and oxaloacetate [15]. The enzyme activity was expressed as nmol/min/mg protein.
