VIT was measured immediately before and after the handling session in week 2 and 4 of the housing period, as well as immediately after the transfer of the mice from the EPM back into the home cage (Fig. 8). The procedure was the same as described in Experiment 1. Because of the large number of animals and since we were mainly interested in the comparison of voluntary interaction between tail handled and tunnel handled mice, VIT for CTRL and UCMS animals was done on separate days.
