The model calculates the direct medical costs associated with the implantation of an automatic cardioverter-defibrillator and the health care costs associated with cardiovascular disease throughout the patient’s life. The cost of the ICD and implantation procedure, its subsequent revision, complete or partial replacement, as well as the cost of treating complications associated with the ICD (infection, displacement, inadequate discharges), the cost of diagnostic tests and specialist consultations at an outpatient level, were obtained from the tariffs for medical services provided within the SGBP and in the system of MSHI, approved by Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.28
