Metabolic pathway analysis was performed using the web-based Metaconflict 5.0. (https://www.metaboanalyst.ca/) [34]. Functional enrichment analyses and the pathway analyses module were used to identify underlying metabolite groups or pathways which may be relevant to the biological process of anxiety disorders. In all, 25 serum metabolic pathways were screened out from two metabolite databases, including 24 from both the Small Molecule Pathway Database (SMPD) [35] and the KEGG database, and one from SMPD alone. Notably, this study only analyzed the metabolites that passed the advised threshold of association by IVW (P IVW < 0.05).
