We extracted data on article characteristics, population, data collection year, acceptability measurement, barriers, and facilitators to acceptability. Based on previous studies, acceptability has been “conceptualized largely as a favorable ‘attitude’ towards a product, predisposing a person to be willing to take or use it” [18,19]. However, there is no consensus to measure acceptability. We stated the questions of assessing acceptability to reflect acceptability measurement. Table 1 summarizes the data from each study.
Characteristics of included studies (ordered by year).
1 PrEP: pre-exposure prophylaxis; 2 MSM: men who have sex with men; 3 YMSM: young men who have sex with men; 4 FSW: female sex worker; 5 nPEP: non-occupational post-exposure prophylaxis; 6 RDS: respondent-driven sampling.
