Eleven‐week‐old WT and Bco2 −/− female mice (n = 4–5/genotype) were treated with the antioxidant NAC (A1540922, ThermoFisher, Rockford, IL, USA) at a dose of 0.5 mg/g bodyweight in the drinking water for two weeks. Water was replaced every three days. Throughout the experiment, mice were maintained on a regular chow diet. At the end of the treatment, mice were euthanized between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and tissues were collected as described above.
