We used the extended Mie theory for spherical particles with radial anisotropy for numerical simulations (37). To achieve high accuracy, multipole expansion was carried out up to hexadecapole terms. Extinction spectra for NP solutions produced by centrifugation were calculated for spheres with diameters ranging from 6 nm to 500 nm with a step of 2 nm then averaged with weights corresponding to the fitted size distribution functions (Fig. 1E).
