2.6. Refractive index measurement

An ABBE refractometer was used to measure the refractive index of the sample.23 Three sample drops were dropped onto the prism, and then the cap was closed. The light source (Na-lamp) was switched on, and the scale display was set to the refractive index of 1.30. Then the refractive index was measured for the desired sample (the sample's refractive index is obtained when the light–dark image is at the top of the reading scale).
