The bacterial suspensions in the above six groups were centrifuged and washed. The bacteria were then stained with a fluorescent nucleic acid stain containing a mixture of propidium iodide (PI) (3 μL, 20 mM) and SYTO 9 (3 μL, 3.34 mM) for 30 min at room temperature in the dark. Finally, the stained bacteria were washed three times to remove excess dyes and imaged using CLSM.
