In line with the results from the a priori power analysis, a total of 1854 participants from the U.S. were recruited via Prolific (https://www.prolific.co) to participate in the experiment. Of these, a total of 270 participants were excluded based on our a priori exclusion criteria (see https://aspredicted.org/ua3ca.pdf), resulting in a final sample of 1584 (50.32% female, 47.98% male, 1.70% other; Mage = 35.58, SDage = 11.87 years). Sociodemographic information for each of the three conditions can be found in Table S18.
