The yeast two-hybrid assay was performed using the GAL4 Two-Hybrid System (Stratagene). The entire or truncated coding region of OsAHL1 (or AHLmut) was amplified with primers Y2H. The PCR product was ligated into the pBD-GAL4 and pAD-GAL4-2.1 Cam phagemid vector according to the manufacturer’s instructions. The yeast strain YRG-2 (Mata ura352 his3-200 ade2-101 lys2-801 trp1-901 leu2-3 112 gal4-542 gal80-538 LYS2::UASGAL1 -TATAGAL1-HIS3 URA3::UASGAL4 17mers(x3)-TATACYC1-lacZ) was transformed with both of the bait and prey plasmid according to the method described previously45.
