This study was pre-registered (https://doi.org/10.17605/OSF.IO/EMQ4B). The following are notable deviations. We used the SIGMA rat template25 instead of the Papp et al. template26, owing to fewer artifacts, additional relevant assets and improved in vivo contrast. Some datasets had field of view cropped to ease image registration. Some datasets had time series cropped to ease the computational load. We used temporal signal-to-noise instead of signal-to-noise ratio, as these were shown to be correlated12. Detailed deviations are listed here: https://github.com/grandjeanlab/MultiRat.
