A fire area map for the 1997 fires in Kalimantan was developed using QGIS 3.3 (Open Source Geospatial Foundation) by overlaying the NOAA-AVHRR Hotspot 1998 layer with the Mawas Burnt area 1997, the Natural Forest Cover 1996, and the peat distribution and administration boundary for Kalimantan. The 1996 Natural Forest Cover map was provided by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, and the Peat Distribution Map was provided by the Ministry of Agriculture.
