Fecal samples per pen were dried at 60 °C for 72 h, finely ground in a coffee grinder (DCG-12BC; Cuisinart, Stamford, CT), and passed through a 1-mm particle size sieve. Dried and ground treatment diets and fecal samples were analyzed for OM (method 942.05; AOAC Int., 2006), GE (Parr 6400 Automatic Isoperibol Calorimeter), and CP (rapid N cube). Titanium content in treatment diet and fecal dry ash was analyzed to Myers et al. (2004) with minor modifications.
